Temperature Crash Incoming: 30° drop in just hours Sunday

A major shift in the forecast is expected to arrive on Sunday. It’s going to be a classic case of weather whiplash as we go from sunny skies and 70 degrees on Saturday to potentially record low temperatures by Monday morning.

The morning hours should start out fairly quiet with cloudy skies and mild air, with temperatures in the 60s. That will quickly change during the afternoon as a powerful cold front sweeps across the region, dropping temperatures by nearly 30 degrees in just a few hours.

Along with the temperature crash, extremely gusty winds will develop. Wind gusts could reach between 40 and 50 mph, which is strong enough to bring down tree branches and possibly cause scattered power outages.

As the front barrels across the Ozarks, thunderstorms may develop along the leading edge. Within those storms, there is a small chance for a brief spin-up tornado, especially for areas along and east of Highway 63…
