Springfield, Missouri – A fast-changing weather pattern is creating dangerous fire conditions this afternoon, just hours after temperatures plunged into the teens across southern Missouri.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, an elevated fire danger is expected mainly west of Highway 65 through 6 p.m. Tuesday. Humidity levels are dropping into the 20 to 30 percent range while wind gusts increase to 20 to 30 mph, creating ideal conditions for fires to ignite and spread quickly across dry grasslands…
