Federal indictments filed against 85 in Springfield, Joplin probe

More than 100 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers collaborated over a one-week period to arrest and charge 101 individuals in connection with federal investigations targeting violent crime.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the results of “Operation Spring Cleaning,” a coordinated, multi-agency enforcement initiative conducted March 17–19 across the Springfield and Joplin metropolitan areas. The operation focused on Greene, Jasper, and Christian counties, where authorities sought to identify, apprehend, and prosecute individuals accused of serious offenses.

The initiative resulted in 85 federal indictments involving 101 defendants. Charges span a range of offenses, including firearms violations, narcotics trafficking, and sex-related crimes. Investigators also executed 10 arrests on state warrants, including one involving a suspect charged with first-degree murder, as well as a CODIS match connected to an unsolved rape case…
