Brief cooldown followed by rapid warm-up once again

The weekend heat has been pushed away by a cold front late yesterday, and you’ll be going from shorts and flip-flops to jeans and a light jacket. Although cooler, today will be more seasonal with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s around the Ozarks. Winds will be chilly out of the northeast at around 10 to 20 mph and clouds will increase going into the afternoon.

Tonight will be chilly, but not freezing. Overnight lows will fall into the low 40s and upper 30s by Tuesday morning. Warm air quickly blows back in and we’re back in the upper 60s tomorrow.

The warming trend continues into Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures will rapidly reach the 80s on Wednesday, and we’ll be flirting with 90° again by Thursday.

We’re keeping our eyes open for rain, and a cold front late on Thursday may provide a decent chance for scattered rain and thunderstorms in the Ozarks. The front will slowly blow through Thursday evening and rain chances will perk up Thursday night into Friday morning. We’ll take what we can get.

It will be cool on Friday following the front. Temperatures will drop from near 90° on Thursday to the upper 40s by Friday afternoon with a breezy north wind.

The warming trend restarts on Saturday and we’ll be back in the 60s and 70s soon enough. The pattern looks to shift to a more active storm track as we begin April. This doesn’t necessarily mean severe weather, but it does mean we can expect more frequent rain chances going into April…
