Springfield City Council to vote on ‘on-call pay’ for animal control officers

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – When the Springfield Animal Shelter’s doors close at the end of the day, the calls don’t stop. Animal control officers are still expected to respond after hours, often within minutes, when there’s an emergency.

The Springfield city council will vote on whether to pay animal control officers $30 for the on-call shift. This is something the city already does with other departments.

City leaders say it’s to recognize the sacrifice officers make with their time spent on standby in case of emergencies…
