Companies hope to recruit next generation of trade workers at Build My Future showcase

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Construction companies continue to fight a labor shortage across America.

“The average age of a construction worker is 42.2 years old right now. We really need to have more people coming into the industry. As we continue to have baby boomers that are retiring, we have to be filling those positions, especially the leadership positions,” Megan Herzog with Build My Future said.

In response, thousands of high school students took to the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds E-Plex for Build My Future, a showcase of almost every construction trade, to introduce the next generation to potential careers…
