Easter weekend brings free and low‑cost events across the Ozarks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Families across the Ozarks are preparing for a full weekend of Easter celebrations, with events planned at James River Church, the Springfield Zoo and the annual Easter Sunrise Service at Hammons Field.

Organizers say each event is free or low‑cost and open to anyone looking to celebrate the holiday.

At James River Church, the annual Easter egg hunt is moving indoors because of the threat of rain. Clint Wells, family ministries pastor, said the goal is to make the event accessible for every family. “We’re so excited to be able to welcome families from the area inside.
