Rain returns, unsettled and stormy pattern ahead

After a long break from the April showers, rain made a return today. Officially in Springfield, we picked up just over half an inch of rainfall, while areas like Harrison and Joplin saw closer to an inch.

This is just the beginning of a soggy and unsettled pattern that will bring daily chances for rain. Let’s break that down bit by bit.

As rain wraps up Friday evening, conditions will turn mostly quiet overnight and into the start of Saturday. The front responsible for today’s rain will slowly lift back to the north by Saturday afternoon, bringing a chance for a few pop-up showers.

At this point, rain chances on Saturday sit around 20 to 30 percent. Any showers that do develop will be light and brief, with little to no accumulation expected.

Sunday brings a better chance for rain, especially during the afternoon hours. A line of showers is expected to move from west to east across the region, with rainfall totals ranging from around a quarter inch to just over half an inch…
