Juvenile arrested in Miles Young death could stand trial as an adult

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — According to Greene County Juvenile Officer Bill Prince, the 17-year-old female who was arrested in the Miles Young death investigation will have a certification hearing.

In that hearing, it will be determined if the teen will stand trial as an adult for her alleged role in the fatal shooting of Young.

“She is currently charged with what would be the felony of first-degree murder if committed by an adult. That is one of the mandatory certification offenses. We will be filing a motion to dismiss [our office], which would allow prosecution under the general law to get that before the court,” Prince said. “The issue there is to determine whether there’s juvenile services available for this teen or whether or not they need to be dismissed from our court and tried as an adult.”…
