Route 66: The 100-Year Ride visits Marshfield’s historic gas station

MARSHFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The Route 66 centennial tour is making a stop in Marshfield this weekend as the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival gets underway.

A new attraction is a restored 100-year-old gas station that has been relocated to a new site just feet from historic Route 66 near the former We Dug Inn. The Tudor-style building originally sat near the Niangua River, where early motorists needed frequent places to refuel.

“It’s kind of been a once-in-a-lifetime project to be able to restore and keep this old building that’s 100 years old in the condition it’s in so future generations can enjoy the nostalgia of Route 66,” said Lyndall Fraker, a member of the Webster County Route 66 Centennial Committee…
