Teacher of the year announced for Springfield Public Schools

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Officials announced the teacher of the year for Springfield Public Schools during an event on Wednesday, April 29.

According to a press release from the school district, Clarissa Pohlman was named the winner for 2026 to 2027 during the event titled “Celebrate SPS,” hosted by the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools.

The release says Pohlman has been a world language teacher for 13 years at Pershing Middle School.

“I’m committed to creating a warm and welcoming classroom where students feel safe, valued and supported,” Pohlman said. “Of course, I want my students to build a strong foundation in Spanish, but even more than that, I want them to know they are cared for. My goal is to create an environment that supports both academic growth and personal confidence so they are prepared not just for high school, but for life beyond it.”…
