Kenneth Smith, a 58-year-old inmate at the Alabama Department of Corrections, is scheduled to be executed using a new method with nitrogen gas. Smith was convicted for the 1989 murder of a woman and was scheduled for execution in November 2022, but the attempt of lethal injection did not work.
