Alabama’s Top Drug Threats Were All Seized in a Bust at the Busiest U.S. Port of Entry AL News

(Alabama)– According to the 2024 Alabama Drug Threat Assessment, fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine were all considered threats to Alabamians after 138 law enforcement respondents across Alabama completed an assessment with various drug questions listed. Fentanyl and other opioids received 77 votes, while meth accounted for 56 total votes from respondents as the state’s biggest drug threat.

Southern Border Bust

On Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) acquired more than $2 million worth of various drugs from a 67-year-old man. He was driving a 2021 sedan through the dedicated commuter lane, requesting to be admitted into the U.S. through the San Ysidro Port of Entry, according to CBP.

According to the U.S. General Service Administration (GSA), the San Ysidro Port of Entry is the busiest in the U.S., processing more than 70,000 vehicles daily.
