(Alabama)– According to the Alabama Department of Corrections (DOC) website, four escapees are on the Inmate Escape Report List. The oldest escape date dates back to Aug. 21, 2015. However, as of Jan. 2024, DOC’s website has not taken Samuel Garrett, 50, off of the escapee list to confirm that he has been recaptured.
Garrett’s History in Alabama
Alabama Media (AL) reported that Garrett was serving a life sentence on a 1994 second-degree burglary conviction at Red Eagle Community Work Center (Montgomery Cty.).
AL’s article gave additional information about Garrett’s case and stated:
He had previous convictions dating back to 1987 for receiving stolen property, theft of property and third-degree burglary. Garrett was paroled in 2006 to a transition center, but was returned to prison because of a policy violation. Before his escape, Garrett had a parole hearing set for October 2016.
On Aug. 15, 2015, Garrett was working at his assigned job location and decided to leave around 1 P.M., and has not been seen since then, based on DOC’s website. Garrett is estimated to be in the age range of 50-51 years old by the end of year 2024.
