(Alabama)– In Jan. 2024, Alabama native and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin issued a public apology for failing to report his medical status to top White House officials after being hospitalized for days with complications involving his Dec. 2023 prostate cancer diagnosis.
According to Time Magazine, on Feb. 11, 2024, Sec. Austin was hospitalized over a bladder concern and decided to transfer his authorities during his time of hospitalization. On Sunday, Austin was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a possible bladder issue.
Time’s article gave additional information and stated:
A statement from Walter Reed medical officials late Sunday said Austin was admitted into the critical care unit for supportive care and close monitoring. Dr. John Maddox, the trauma medical director, and Dr. Gregory Chesnut, director of the Center for Prostate Disease Research of the Murtha Cancer Center, said while it was unclear at this time how long Austin will remain hospitalized, “the current bladder issue is not expected to change his anticipated full recovery.”
