BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, Alabama is the fifth poorest state in the country, with one in four children facing food insecurity. As the summer months approach, some parents and caregivers are concerned about how their kids will be fed, as Alabama has opted out of the Summer EBT program this year.
