Man arrested after found with missing NC teen in Alabama

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man has been arrested after he was found with a missing 16-year-old girl from Cabarrus County, authorities confirmed with QCN.

According to the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, when the teen was reported missing, it was believed she left voluntarily with Richard Michael Maybach, 33, in a white BMW, possibly heading out of state.

Detectives, along with the assistance from the FBI Charlotte Field Office, determined that the vehicle was in Oxford, Alabama, on Friday, May 3.

Authorities in Oxford located Maybach with the missing teen and he was taken into custody.

He has been charged with abduction of a child in North Carolina and is awaiting extradition. Authorities said further charges may be coming in both North Carolina and Alabama.
