Soggy and cool on Friday, Cold front brings us fantastic weather this weekend

Tonight : Mostly cloudy with a few showers. It will be mild and muggier with lows in the middle to upper 60s.

Tomorrow : A Coastal Low will continue to move across South Alabama on Friday ahead of a cold front. We will be cloudy and cooler with scattered showers and a few storms. Some heavy rain is possible south of I-20. Between Thursday and Friday, the forecast rain totals will be around 0.5 to 2″ with the higher amounts south of I-20. High temperatures will only be in the middle 70s.

There is a large area of low pressure in the NW Gulf of Mexico. It is part of a cold front and there is strong wind shear. Development is not expected, but this system will spread heavy rain across the northern Gulf Coast through Friday.

High School Football : Right now, plan for a few showers to linger across Central Alabama for the 7 PM kickoff, but the rain will end during the games. It will be cool with temperatures in the 70s.

Weekend Outlook : The cold front will move through on Saturday morning, and we will become mostly sunny by the afternoon. It will be warmer and breezy with highs in the middle 80s. This weather will be perfect for all of the local college football games! High pressure will stay north of Alabama on Sunday drawing down dry air. We will start the day much cooler with lows in the upper 50s. Sunday afternoon will be sunny and warm with low humidity. Highs will be in the lower 80s. It stays cool Sunday night with lows in the 50s.
