( NewsNation ) — With the 2024 general election fast approaching on November 5, many Americans will look to vote early to avoid Election Day lines and potential confusion.
The early voting windows vary by state, with some states like Minnesota opening in-person and absentee voting as early as Sept. 20.
Here’s a look at when early voting begins in all 50 states along with information on how to register to vote and how to check your registration status in your state.
How Americans can register to vote ahead of Election Day
Alabama
Alabama does not have early voting.
Alabama’s voter registration deadline is Oct. 21.
To register to vote in Alabama:
- Submit the Alabama application electronically
- Download the Alabama Voter Registration Form and mail it to the local office of the Board of Registrars in which the registrant resides
- Alabamians can also request the state mail them an Alabama Voter Registration Form by using the online voter registration form request on the Alabama Secretary of State website.
