Fox News host Shannon Bream confronted Republican Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) Sunday about her decision to vote against a bill to offer access to in vitro fertilization (IVF).
The issue has been big in Britt’s home state and IVF has become a 2024 campaign issue as Republicans continue to deal with the political fallout of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to strike down Roe v. Wade .
On Fox News Sunday , Britt assured voters and Bream that if former President Donald Trump is elected in November, IVF will remain accessible in all 50 states.
However, Bream pressed the Alabama Republican as to why she was a no-vote in June on the Right to IVF Act, which would have required federal health plans to cover treatments for women who struggle with child conception.
Britt claimed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer only brought the bill to a vote as a “scare tactic” to make Republicans appear out of touch with women on reproductive issues. Bream pressed the Alabama Republican on her vote against the bill.
