Cooler temps are on the way!

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – A cold front is making its way across the south, so while our Monday morning is starting out rather muggy and warm, we won’t warm up much more as we head into the afternoon, only reaching highs in the upper 70s. As this cold front makes its way through Mississippi and Alabama, wind speeds and wind gust will start to increase, and we will see wind gust between 15-20 mph this afternoon. This cold front won’t be bringing any rain with it, which is not a great sign considering a majority of the state is still experiencing some sort of drought. With these dry conditions and stronger wind gust, this will lead to an increase fire threat this week. This means conditions will be favorable for fires to get out of control & spread rapidly if you don’t use extra caution while burning fires outdoors. Also, please make sure to dispose of cigarettes properly.
