“It’s just a notice to the public that, hey, the fire conditions are getting worse,” said Terry Ezzell, the Northwest Regional Forester for the AFC.

At this time, the Alabama Forestry Commission is not issuing any burn restrictions. However, the AFC is discouraging outdoor burning until conditions improve.

“This is just a heads up,” Ezzell said.

Ezzell said the dry weather pattern in North Alabama is to blame for the fire conditions.

“I don’t think we’ve had any accountable rainfall since the start of the month and it’s just compounded,” he said. “Even though it feels great, it has been drying out the bigger fuels out there, not just the grasses and the leaves and stuff like that, but the bigger fuels.”
