MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — 41 communities across Alabama are being awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix anything from roads to sewer systems.
This is all due to the Community Development Block Grant Program, administered through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The Town of Eclectic in Elmore is one of those 41 cities. They will be using the grant money to upgrade their wastewater treatment facility.
“Most homes are being sold anywhere from three weeks to a month after completion,” said Gary Davenport, mayor of the town of Eclectic.
Davenport said the town is growing rapidly. “We’ve got two of the largest subdivisions that are being built- homes are being built in. Construction is starting… right there close as well,” said Davenport. “So, everything’s situated perfectly.”

Statewide, communities just like Eclectic are getting grants for improving water systems and resurfacing roads. Davenport said these funds are critical.
