North Alabama U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-4 th District, said the Republican caucus had an extended meeting Friday and reached broad agreement on a spending bill.

The bill continues government operations until March at the same spending levels, provides disaster relief and aid to farmers and temporarily extends the Farm Bill.

Two previous proposals had failed to get enough support. The first bill, negotiated by House Speaker Mike Johnson was opposed by President-elect Trump and wasn’t voted on. A second measure had Trump’s support. It included an increase in the U.S. debt ceiling that Trump called for, but the bill was defeated.
