Good afternoon everyone. We continue to watch long range models and trends in regards to a two-part arctic invasion that may include 2 vigorous storm systems. While we do know that frigid air is a certaintly at this point, how south it goes and where these two systems set up, is still being argued between the two major weather models.

As for our GFS weather model, we see a pattern that suppresses everything further to the south; with anything forming being pushed off and out via the Southeast, then well out to sea. While this paints a less snowy forecast for the Northeast, it does increase the risk of wintry precipitation in areas that usually don’t see it due to cold air invading all the way to the Gulf Coast.

With the GFS, our first system comes out of the Rockies from the Pacific Northwest, then hooks up with energy from the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. In this scenario, low pressure gets going around northeast Texas, then scoots to the east quickly and out to sea somewhere off of the Carolinas.
