A proposal to allow gambling on Alaska’s ferries is getting mixed reactions in Juneau. The Alaska Beacon reports a Republican lawmaker from Wasilla has proposed putting slot machines on Alaska Marine Highway ships. The idea is to help raise money for the state-run ferry system. Gambling would only be allowed when the ferries are more than 3 miles off Alaska’s coasts.
