Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 being sent to some Alaska residents in 16 days

The Alaska Department of Revenue is set to send out Permanent Fund Dividend checks to eligible residents who have yet to receive their payments from the program in 16 days.

The state will send out checks on Feb. 15 to eligible Alaskans who have the “Eligible-Not Paid” status by Feb. 7 and have not received his or her check for 2023 or earlier.

Eligible residents in Alaska can apply for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend from now until March 31. Applications for the program may be filled out either online or by paper form.

To be eligible for a payment from the fund, an Alaskan applying must intend to remain a resident indefinitely and may not be a convicted felon, among other requirements.

The Permanent Fund Dividend gives eligible residents a check each year based on Alaska’s mineral revenues for that year, according to the state. The 2023 check was worth $1,312 per resident and began going out to eligible residents in October 2023.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”
