Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 to be sent to some Alaska residents in 14 days

The Alaska Department of Revenue is set to send payments from the Permanent Fund Dividend to eligible residents of the state who have yet to receive their checks from the program in two weeks.

The Alaskans who will get their PFD payments on Feb. 15 include those who have the “Eligible-Not Paid” status by Feb. 7 and have yet to receive their check for 2023 or earlier.

Alaska residents can apply for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend from now until March 31, and the application can be filled out either online or via paper form. To qualify for the payment, residents must intend to remain residents of Alaska indefinitely and may not be a convicted felon, among other requirements.

The Permanent Fund Dividend gives eligible residents in Alaska a dividend payment each year based on the state’s mineral revenues for that year, according to the state. The PFD check for 2023 was worth $1,312 per resident and began going out late last year.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”
