ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – It was a warm and stormy winter weekend….sounds like the start of a novel, but its just the weather going into the weekend for Alaska. The storm amped up avalanche danger. The Chugach National Forest Avalanche information center issued the warning Friday. The warning encompasses the western Chugach and Kenai mountains, including the areas of Girdwood, Portage, Turnagain Pass, Moose Pass, and Seward. This warning continues through 9 pm Saturday. The highest snow amounts are most likely to occur in the mountain ranges of Summit lake and eastern Kenai Lake.
