Early voting underway for Alaska’s nonpartisan primary election

Early voting for Alaska’ nonpartisan primary began Monday with some eager voters getting their ballots in well before the Aug. 20 election. Alaska’s primaries are unique among other states as all candidates appear on the ballot regardless of party affiliation. For each race, the four candidates with the most votes advance to the general election on Nov. 5. Local residents can vote early at the Region III Elections Office, located 675 Seventh Ave., suite A2. Visit alaska.elections.gov for a full list of the polling center’s hours.
