Opioid Deaths at Lowest Levels in Three Years

(Undated) – Opioid deaths have dropped to the lowest level in three years. Provisional numbers from the CDC found there were just over 75-thousand opioid overdose deaths for the year ending in April 2024. Overdose deaths have also been trending down in other groups of drugs like cocaine and other stimulants. But some states are still reporting overdoses nearly as high or even higher than previous records, including Alaska, Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Wyoming.
