Folks are still being asked to avoid travel on the Homer Spit after Mother Nature caused some serious damage. Homer Police say high winds coincided with a high tide over the weekend, resulting in the outbound lane of Homer Spit Road eroding. Rocks and other debris were thrown into the road, as well. Homer Spit Road is back open, but travelers are urged to avoid the area.
