How bad policy and tax breaks are failing Alaska students

Recently, I picked up my grandnieces from school. As we chauffeurs queued up in vehicles and waited, students visited and played a few more minutes with their classmates before heading home. It seemed like such a normal thing to do, but knowing it would likely come to an end, sooner than later, for them and so many other Alaskans kids made it bittersweet. How did we get to this place where school districts across Alaska have to shutter schools and shuttle students far from their neighborhoods?…
