National Cheeseburger Day is celebrated on Sept. 18 every year. This year, it falls on Wednesday, but food discounts at some restaurants across Arizona were available all week long.
The iconic food holds a special place in the American food culture. According to YouGov’s ranking of The Most Popular American Dishes , the cheeseburger remains one of the country’s top favorite entreĢes, and it is estimated that Americans eat an estimated 50 billion burgers each year.
While the hamburger was at the top with 85% popularity in the regularly updated list, the cheeseburger is close at 83%, just behind french fries and grilled cheese (both at 84%), and tied with fried chicken (83%).
