Arizona expected to see calm weather alongside weekend traffic increase

Arizona was expected to see a warm but calm Saturday throughout much of the state as travelers ramped up plans and headed into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s busiest time of year.

The majority of bad weather has stayed far away from the Phoenix area, as have many traffic woes, the result of the state highway agency canceling planned construction and maintenance across Arizona.

Phoenix saw a cloudy but calm start to the weekend that was expected to reveal clear skies on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

A high temperature of 78 degrees was expected alongside sunny skies and calm wind before a nightly low of 52 degrees in Phoenix.

The rest of the weekend forecast would mostly remain the same, with fair but warmer conditions across the Phoenix area.

“These forecast temperatures mostly fall between 5 and 10 degrees above normal for the time of year,” stated meteorologist Ted Whittock of the weather service’s Phoenix office.
