The nationwide pet adoption event, Empty Shelters, begins this weekend with 13 organizations in Arizona.
At a reduced adoption rate of $50 or less, new pet parents can adopt a spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped cat or dog Dec. 1-17, according to information from the Bissell Pet Foundation.
“Adoption saves two lives ― the adopted pet and the one who takes their place in the shelter,” read a statement on the foundation’s website . “Our nation’s animal shelters are facing an overcrowding crisis unlike anything we have experienced in more than a decade.”
