A former U.S. Army soldier has been indicted on charges of attempting to support Hezbollah and making false statements related to international terrorism, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Pennsylvania announced today.
The three-count indictment names Jack Danaher Molloy, 24, a dual U.S. and Irish citizen, as the sole defendant, the department confirmed.
According to the U.S. attorney’s office, from August to December 2024, Molloy allegedly sought to join Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria, fully aware of the group’s terrorist activities and attacks against Americans.
The department stated that Molloy reportedly traveled to Lebanon in August 2024 to join Hezbollah but was instructed to complete additional steps before being accepted.
In October 2024, Molloy traveled to Syria to fight for Hezbollah but later returned to the U.S., where he continued his efforts to join the group.
These efforts included online communications and expressing violent antisemitic views, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
