Wednesday, January 24: Gloom persists all week before sunshine finally invades

This morning is another dreary morning with lingering rain showers and drizzle. The rain and drizzle will move out after this morning, but foggy conditions could remain into the midday hours. A dense fog advisory is in place through noon today.

Otherwise, temperatures today will be mild in the upper 40s and low 50s. Winds will be light and variable. Another wave of showers and fog is expected early Thursday morning into the afternoon with additional bouts of fog and showers into this weekend.

A final round of rain showers will slip through the Ozarks early Saturday morning into the afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts through Saturday will be highest across southern and southeast Missouri and northern Arkansas where another inch is possible. Areas north of I-44 will see less between 0.25″ to 0.75″.

Big changes are coming beyond the weekend. The jet stream will push the weekend storm east with warmer and sunnier weather on its heels early next week. This will mark the beginning of an extended stretch of mild weather as we end January and head into February.
