South Arkansas woman wins $100,000 Powerball prize using app

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A south Arkansas woman recently won $100,000 playing the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Powerball using an app on her phone.

K. Anthony of Harrell claimed her prize at the ASL claim center on Feb. 1. She had ordered her ticket using the mobile Jackpocket app for the Jan. 29 drawing.

She told lottery officials she chose to play the game after hearing a sermon praising God for things on the way. Normally she only plays once or twice a month, she told officials.

Jackpocket called her for two days to let her know she had won, but she avoided the calls, assuming it was a scam. When she finally took a call she was overcome with excitement.

“I couldn’t even sleep a wink last night,” she told officials.

Anthony’s original win was for $50,000, but because she had paid an additional $1 for a Power Play, her prize doubled to $100,000, officials explained. Anthony told officials she was going to spend the money on her home, taking her family on vacation and saving the rest.
