Thursday, September 5 forecast: Searching for rain, finding fall temperatures

Happy Thursday! Today will be the warmest day of the work week with temperatures reaching the upper 80s this afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, especially south of Highway 60. A few stray showers could develop in Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas today, but chances are slim.

Tonight will be mild so if you’re headed up to KC for the Chiefs game you should be good to go!

Our return to seasonal conditions is brief. A cold front will blast through the Ozarks Friday morning preparing us for a cool weekend. There is a slight chance for showers along the front Friday morning, but we should be clear by the afternoon. Unlike last Friday, evening plans this Friday should go uninterrupted.

If you’re the type to sleep with your windows open at night, you’re in luck this weekend! Temperatures during the day Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid-70s with overnights in the 50s Friday night and in the 40s and 50s Saturday night.

The pattern going into next week looks to warm up with low to mid-80s to start next week. Unfortunately, widespread rain doesn’t look likely anytime soon. Long-term data suggests we may not be finished with the 90s just yet and we could still sneak a few more in before the end of the month.
