Committee sends plan to improve maternal mortality, infant health in Arkansas to Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has received the initial report from an Arkansas public health initiative to improve maternal health and infant outcomes.

The Arkansas Committee of Maternal Health delivered its report recommending new policies, programs and approaches to improving health outcomes for expectant and new mothers and babies.

When she signed a maternal health executive order on March 6, the governor established the committee and set a six-month timeline for its report. Officials with the Arkansas Department of Health and Department of Human Services said over 100 stakeholders from dozens of organizations across the state met to develop the report’s recommendations.

“As the first mom to lead Arkansas, maternal health is personal,” the governor said.
