Police presence increased across Arkansas schools, concerning social media posts circulate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. ( KNWA/KFTA ) — Multiple schools across the KNWA/KFTA coverage area have reported concerning social media posts circulating threatening an unspecified school.

Fort Smith Police Department said that due to a vague social media post mentioning a “Northside” school, it has heightened police presence at the Northside High School in Fort Smith on Wednesday, Sept. 11. But the post did not specify Northside in Fort Smith.

Rogers Public Schools had e xtra police presence at Oakdale Middle School and Rogers High School after a vague social media post made threatening remarks on the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 9.

The Rogers Police Department responded:

“RPD is aware of the threat made on social media toward Rogers Public Schools and we are currently investigating the threat. No specific schools were mentioned in the threat. We take these threats very seriously and will investigate accordingly”

Fayetteville Police Department announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 10 that a threatening post was circulating with “no specific school or district is mentioned.”
