Doug Emhoff Blasts Sarah Sanders’s ‘Appalling,’ ‘Repulsive’ Attack on Harris Over Lack of Biological Children

Doug Emhoff blasted Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) for using Vice President Kamala Harris’s lack of biological children as a line of attack, calling it “repulsive.”

In an interview released Thursday for Good Morning America , Michael Strahan spoke to Emhoff about being on the campaign trail and attacks on his wife, including from Sanders. During a Michigan town hall, Sanders said Harris doesn’t have anything to keep her “humble.”

“My kids keep me humble,” she said . “Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”

Harris is the stepmother to two children, 30-year-old Cole Emhoff and 25-year-old Ella Emhoff, Doug Emhoff’s children from his first marriage. The Second Gentleman slammed Sanders over the comment and also accused the governor of purposefully mispronouncing his wife’s name.

“It’s appalling for somebody who is in a position of leadership like the governor to say something so repulsive and so out of touch, not only on the, one, mispronouncing her name, which is disrespectful. She knows what her name is,” Emhoff said. “And then, two, as if you need to have your own biological children to be humble. Then to say as if women should be humble, and you can see the pushback, even from within her own party because it’s a repulsive thing to say.”
