Northwest Arkansas Jews celebrate Rosh Hashanah

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Jewish Arkansans spent Wednesday preparing for Rosh Hashanah. The holiday marks the beginning of a new year. With a fresh start comes fresh food. “We eat bread and apples dipped in honey to symbolize our desire to have a sweet year,” Rabbi Mendel Greisman of Chabad of Northwest Arkansas said. “We eat a head of fish to symbolize our interest in being a leader and not a follower.”
