Traditionally red Northwest Arkansas reelected Republican Steve Womack of Rogers to represent the 3rd Congressional District .
Why it matters: He will represent nearly a quarter of Arkansas’ population for the next two years.
By the numbers: With about 80% of precincts reporting, Womack got nearly 64% of the vote, according to the AP.
What they’re saying: “I work every day to deliver and improve the lives of Third District Arkansans,” Womack said in an emailed statement Tuesday night.
- “Serving my state and country is the greatest honor of my life, and I will never take it for granted.”
Context: Womack has served as representative of the 3rd District since 2011.
Zoom out: Republican U.S. Rep. incumbents Rick Crawford, French Hill and Bruce Westerman all won their seats.
Meanwhile, voters also decided on statewide ballot initiatives regarding Arkansas Scholarship Lottery money and the future of casino licensing in the state.
