Damaging Winds & Tornadoes Likely Across Parts of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama

Severe Weather Outbreak Will Likely Impact Parts of Mississippi, Tennesse, and Georgia as Well

Good morning everyone. We continue to watch the ingredients coming together for a major winter storm that will impact areas of the Midwest, all the way to the East Coast starting from tomorrow through Monday.

Things get going some time tomorrow morning/early afternoon as an area of low pressure begins to form east of the Rockies in the vicinity of western Kansas. Things will start off as spotty light snow, light freezing rain, and rain in the warm quadrant of our system; then it starts to become more interesting.

As low pressure forms and strengthens, it’ll draw up energy from the Gulf of Mexico, and pull down cold air behind it. The contrast in temperatures, plus abundant moisture, will help to create large amounts of convection. This in turn will help create a wide swath of heavy snows and strong winds, heavy sleet and freezing rain, and a broad fast-moving line of severe weather.
