LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – State office buildings are closing their doors on Thursday and Friday as winter weather is set to slam Arkansas.
According to a release from Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ office, all state office buildings except for critical operations will close on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10.
Gov. Sanders declares state of emergency ahead of winter weather
This move comes as a winter storm is primed to roll through the entire state, with central and northern Arkansas expecting to see 5 to 9 inches of snow or more.
Officials said state employees who can telework should do so, and agencies use liberal leave policies for employees who cannot telework.
On Saturday, Sanders declared a state of emergency until Jan. 13 in response to the incoming severe winter weather.
