In a proactive effort to ensure public safety, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) deputies, in collaboration with agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted visits to four ski resorts within Nevada County on January 11, 2024.
The joint operation aimed to enforce compliance, provide education to businesses, and prevent the service of alcohol to minors or individuals who have consumed excessive amounts.
Sergeant Andrew Liller from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the significance of the operation, stating, “Nevada County Sheriff’s Office patrolled the local ski resorts to ensure the safety of the community.”
Law enforcement officials engaged in thorough checks to ensure businesses were in compliance with regulations, particularly concerning the responsible service of alcohol. The operation also included educational outreach to businesses, emphasizing the importance of verifying IDs and avoiding over-serving customers.
ABC Director Joseph McCullough underscored the collaborative effort between agencies and the local community to create safe environments at events and resorts. “ABC licensees can help keep communities safe by checking IDs and ensuring customers are not over-served,” McCullough stated.
