A fatal incident unfolded on the evening of February 14, 2024, as a black sedan veered off the SR-47 Southbound and collided with the embankment to the left of the Gaffey Street Offramp from I-110 in San Pedro. The unfortunate event resulted in a fatality, marking a somber chapter on this Valentine’s Day.
The California Highway Patrol received distressing reports at 9:19 PM, indicating that the black sedan had overrun the embankment, ultimately becoming entangled in a chain-link fence. Emergency response teams promptly arrived on the scene to assess the situation and provide assistance.
According to witnesses, the vehicle was lodged in the chain-link fence, and efforts to extricate it required the intervention of a towing service equipped with a cable. Falcon Towing from Gardena was summoned, with a request to bring 25 feet of cable for the intricate recovery operation.
As the recovery unfolded, it became evident that the vehicle, identified as a black Dodge Charger, had traveled approximately 100 feet down the embankment. The complexity of the situation led to the involvement of LAPD to ensure smooth access and coordination.
