California will welcome its newest city July 1 with fast-growing town planning to incorporate

Mountain House, a community of nearly 30,000 residents in San Joaquin County, will officially become California’s newest city on July 1. This follows a strong voter endorsement for cityhood earlier this year.

Located about 30 miles southwest of Stockton and 50 miles east of Oakland, Mountain House will be San Joaquin County’s eighth city and California’s 483rd, making it the first new city in the state since 2011.

The soon-to-be city has been growing rapidly in population in recent years.

To celebrate its incorporation, Mountain House officials will host a commemoration ceremony as part of the Fourth of July festivities.
